The Government College of
Engineering, Kannur was started in October 1986, as a center for imparting
quality Engineering education in northern Kerala. From its modest beginnings,
the college has now grown into a sprawling 75-acre campus, and today enjoys an
enviable reputation among the Engineering colleges of South India. The college
is situated just off NH-17, around 15 km from the district headquarters, Kannur.

With an annual intake of 300 students (in 5 branches)
strictly on merit basis through the All Kerala Common Entrance Examination,
this college has a very good faculty-student and infrastructure-student ratio,
producing professionals of outstanding caliber. With the largest unified
academic complex in Kerala, the college is self sufficient in terms of infrastructure,
with well equipped laboratories and workshops, well stocked library, qualified
faculty and experienced technicians. The college has hostels accommodating over
500 students.
